Bordoodle Puppy Adoption - HOW IT WORKS

Application and Deposit

Puppies are only available to approved depositors.  Start by filling out a  Puppy Adoption Application.

Once you are approved and have placed a deposit, you can immediately adopt any available puppy or you may request that your name be added to the upcoming litter of your choice. Pick positions on any upcoming litter are determined on a "first come first serve" basis (for registered depositors only).

Puppy Pick Day

Our committed depositors will choose their puppies once they reach 6 weeks and 1 day of age. We ask that the first person picking their pup give us their choice by 10:00 am (Mountain Time Zone), then we'll proceed to the #2 depositor and so on. Usually most of our depositors are ready to give us their choice right away, so the process is usually done within a few hours. We require that all picks be confirmed by email so that there is no confusion. So, once it's your turn to pick, please email us your puppy pick and we will immediately post your choice on the litter page (REAL TIME - Immediately).

Puppy Payment
After everyone chooses their pup, we will email you an invoice to pay the balance on your pup, including shipping and training if applicable. You can pay by credit card (we add 3% to cover processing fees charged by our on-line merchant - Bank of Utah, PayPal or Square) or you can send us a check by mail. Either way is just fine with us. When sending a check, please mail the check right away so that we can receive your check prior to shipping or training if applicable.

Puppies Go Home @ 8 Weeks
Our sweet little puppies are ready to go home at 8 weeks of age. Please keep in mind that we are not able to let our puppies go home sooner than 8 weeks of age. It is important that all puppies have the opportunity to spend the first 8 weeks of their life with their mom and siblings and that they have a chance to be properly weaned between 7-8 weeks of age. **** If you have enrolled your puppy in our training program, your pup will go home at 11 weeks of age, or 13 weeks depending upon which training course/s you choose.

Shipping Your Pup

We handle all shipping details. We will arrange shipping according to your preference. If traveling by air, we prefer Delta airlines when shipping within the US. If shipping to Canada, Mexico or overseas, we will discuss with you airline options and our further requirements for puppy travel. We prefer Delta as their Pet handling procedures are of the highest standards. We seek after a direct flight if possible. We'll discuss this with you. We typically ship our pups out on the first Friday or Saturday after your puppy turns 8 weeks old. The cost is a flat $350. This fee includes air fare, crate, Vet's Certificate of Health and transport to the airport.

Service Dog

Mountain Rose Bordoodles are bred for health and temperament first. Our Bordoodles are very smart, patient, intuitive and level headed. These are the ideal traits required in all service dogs regardless of the modality.

Our Bordoodles rank high in two particular service dog categories... PTSD/Therapy and Mobility Assistance. Over the years, Mountain Rose is proud to have produced quite a large percentage of our puppies that have grown up to become high level Service Dogs.

If you are in need of a service dog, we can help you select a Bordoodle puppy that displays the temperament traits consistent with those found in proven service dogs.

Traditional Bordoodle

Because Bordoodles are smart, tolerant, loyal and super affectionate, they make wonderful family dogs and personal companions. They love to play games, go on hikes and be part of the family. Bordoodles love kids and get along well with other animals. They don't usually bark, except to warn of a stranger on your property. Bordoodles are usually hypoallergenic and are low to non-shedding. They also excel in agility sports and are super desirable as service dogs due to their high I.Q. and astonishing reasoning ability, which makes them super easy to train. Your Bordoodle puppy can be easily trained to proficiently obey all basic obedience commands by just 11 weeks of age! Mountain Rose can help you accomplish this.

Border Doodle, Borderdoodle or Bordoodle?

There’s a bit of confusion going on in the doodle world about the name of the Border Collie and Poodle cross. One of the most frequent questions we receive is, “Why do some people call these dogs Border Doodles and others call them Bordoodles"? Well, there is a really good reason.

When the breed first became popular, most or all of the organizations that recognize this breed such as Continental Kennel Club, Designer Breed Registry,  Dog Registry of America, and others named this dog the “Borderdoodle” and people came to know the breed as the Borderdoodle or Border Doodle. This seemed to make the most sense because it was crossed with the Border Collie and the Poodle. This is why, in the beginning, our original "kennel" name was Mountain Rose Borderdoodles (eventually converting our official kennel name to Mountain Rose Bordoodles).

Over the years, several of the breed organizations shortened the name to Bordoodle. This led the rest of the registries eventually changing their registry names from Borderdoodles to Bordoodles. So, today the technical "Official" name for this breed is Bordoodle. Because Mountain Rose was there in the very beginning, we were lucky to acquire and own both Internet URL names
www.borderdoodles.com as well as www.bordoodles.com.
